Meet Biscuit
Some kittens arrive looking like they have big plans.
Biscuit looks like he arrived wondering if breakfast has been served yet.
And with that soft buttery-cream coat, Biscuit seemed like the only reasonable name.
This little boy has an almost storybook look about him. His body is washed in warm cream and pale peach, while his face is so light it looks like someone saved the last little bit of cream for the top.
Then there are those eyes.
Big. Round. Serious.
Biscuit can look directly into the camera with the expression of a kitten who has just been informed of something deeply concerning.
We’re not sure what happened.
We are fairly certain he’ll recover.
His tiny pink nose sits right in the middle of that pale face, surrounded by a soft little muzzle and the beginnings of those long Maine Coon whiskers. His ears are already wonderfully tall for such a little fellow, with soft furnishings beginning to develop inside them.
And Biscuit’s coloring gets even prettier when you see his whole body. His back and tail carry the warmest cream tones, while his face, chest, belly, and legs are much paler. Even his little feet seem to fade into the lightest cream.
His tail deserves some attention too. It’s already long, and judging by the rest of his coat, it appears to have every intention of becoming considerably more dramatic.
Right now Biscuit is still young, so we’re not going to pretend we know exactly what kind of personality he’ll have as an adult.
That’s part of the fun.
He’s still becoming Biscuit, but you can change his name, too.
For now, we know he’s an exceptionally sweet-looking little cream boy with an expressive face, a pink nose, enormous kitten eyes, ears he’s going to have to grow into, and a name that fits him almost suspiciously well.
We probably should have named him something dignified.
But look at him.
He’s Biscuit.
His Color & Markings
Cream
Biscuit’s current color classification is Cream.
Cream is the dilute expression of red, giving Biscuit his soft buff, peach, and creamy coloring rather than the deeper orange-red seen in a red Maine Coon.
His coat is especially interesting because the warmer cream is most noticeable across his back, sides, and tail, while his face, chest, underside, and legs appear much paler.
At this point, we are not labeling Biscuit cream with white simply because some areas of his coat appear nearly white in photographs. Very pale cream can create significant contrast within the coat, particularly in a young kitten.
As his coat develops, we’ll continue watching his color and pattern so his final registration description accurately reflects what he becomes.
Biscuit’s eyes are also still developing. They currently have the blue-gray coloring common in young kittens, but they appear to be transitioning. We expect them to move toward a warmer gold or amber tone as he matures, although final eye color cannot yet be guaranteed.
That warm eye color should be especially striking against his pale cream coat.
Temperament Starts at Home
At Ribbons and Bows Maine Coons, we believe temperament is one of the most important parts of raising a Maine Coon well.
Biscuit is being raised underfoot in our home in Warsaw, Missouri, and around our daily business, where he is part of everyday life.
He is handled regularly, plays around us, follows our routines, and learns that people, household activity, affection, play, and gentle boundaries are all normal parts of his world.
That close, hands-on start helps prepare him to transition confidently into his new family.
